Conditions yesterday on Tajos de los Machos. Great skiing in brilliant sunshine. Skis on at 2500m east of Las Alegas. Snow a bit soft on ascent to Cerillo Redondo. Very good cover and lots of safe lines available. Descent from summit was fairly late on in the afternoon and the snow was a bit slushy [...]

 

The high temps of the last 3 days have deteriorated the snow. Patches above 2200m at Las Alegas but above 2600m, soft snow all the way to the 3100m summit of Tajos de los Machos. No good for ski touring, too many rocks showing. Negligible avalanche risk.

 

Snow at La Pluca. All the way up and over las Alegas (2700m) there was intermittent hard crust (2 inch) mixed with breakable crust sinking in about a foot deep. Quite tiring conditions up to the  summit of the Tajos de los Machos (nearly 3100m). Weather closed in and we retreated back.    Negligible avalanche [...]
