It’s notorious as one of the roughest crossings on the planet, and on our crossing, gave us Force 9 gales and 6m waves. Sadly, this blew us [...]
Chiz in South America. Driving Argentinas Ruta 40 and Ruta 150
Now it was time to test my “driving on the right-hand side of the road” skills! Driving in Mendoza itself was quite scary – I knew the local rule that says you have to have your lights on at all times (or you get fined) but there seemed to be no rules for deciding right [...]

Wake up call for Ryanair and Easyjet. Air Berlin show you the future
Just maybe the low cost operators need to change some of their ways? A recent trip to Palma Mallorca revealed a much better way to fly cheaply.
Recommended insurance for rescue services in the mountains
The recent statement from the spanish government that they intend to charge for rescue services, if it is found that the rescued were “negligent” (whatever that means?), brings into question the increased need for insurance cover. See http://www.sierra-nevada-news.com/2009/10/paying-rescue-sierra-nevada-negligence/ for further details.
If coming out to visit the Sierra Nevada as part of our mountaineering, trekking, skiing or [...]
