You can escape the severe spanish heat this summer by using the ski lifts of the Sierra Nevada to access the cooler air above for trekking and hiking. Below are the details of the facilities to open.
The chairs make easy access to the upper mountains and include a walk to some of the fantastic mountain lakes or a trip into the dramatic Coral de Veleta. Even the ascent of Mulhacén is accessible from here as a day trip.

The ski lifts open in summer to facilitate summer activities including hiking, mountain biking, trekking or just to enjoy the pleasure of a ride watching the spectacular views from an elevation of 3,000. This summer the gondola and chairlift Borreguiles Veleta will open for access to the highest point of the winter resort of Sierra Nevada.
You can get the gondola to the Borreguiles area to stroll and enjoy the scenery. In addition, mountain biking enthusiasts in touch with nature can transport their bikes on the lift to the top of the station and down on two wheels.

Open to public: 10:00 hours.

Veleta chairlift:
Open to the public: 10:15 am.
Last uplift: 18:00.
Last descent: 18:15 hours
