22 mountaineers have died in Spain so far this year

The two British mountaineers who died yesterday in the Pyrenees near Huesca, bring to twenty-two the number of people killed this year mountaineering in Spain.
The accidents are:
- January 10. La Guardia Civil found the bodies of three climbers from Navarre who had disappeared the previous day in the area of La Collarada, Villanúa (Huesca), after they were caught and buried by an avalanche. Those killed were the brothers Domingo and Santiago Eugui Martinicorena, 39 and 32, and his brother, Unai Pérez Isasi, 38.
- 22 January. A couple die on Puigmal-Queralbs (Girona), in the eastern Catalan Pyrenees, after falling from a height of 300 meters. The bodies were found on the French side of the mountain.
- 23 January. A 42 year old woman dies after falling into a ravine in northwestern face of Pico Espigüete in Cardaño de Abajo (Palencia).
- 25 January. A 42 year old climber dies as a result of injuries sustained the previous day while climbing in the area of Castellet (Alicante).
- 26 January. The two brothers, Juan José Rodrigo, 35, and Daniel, 26, resident in Bilbao, died when ice climbing on the south side of Pico Curavacas, located near the town of Glaziers (Palencia).
- 2 February. Mountaineer dies after being buried by an avalanche on the peak of La Collarada in Huesca, Canfranc.
- February 14 . Swiss climber dies, aged 24, after falling from a height of six meters while climbing along the “Caminito del Rey” , El Chorro (Málaga).
- 26 February. Mountaineer dies 35 years after an accident near canteras de Atxarte.
- 28 February. A woman dies in fall down a slope in the Sierra de Gredos (Ávila).
- 28 February. Mountaineer dies aged 19, coordinator of a caving group, after falling down a drop in Mondragón (Guipúzcoa).
- March 2.  Mountaineers  Mamnuel GC Juan Palencia, 34, and Alberto FL, 35 years, died when ice climbing near the Circo Anillo in the Pyrenees (Palencia).
- 29 March. JASB mountaineer dies, aged 50, in a ravine in the Sierra de Gredos, in the municipality of Candeleda (Ávila).
- April 6. A climber died after hitting his head after falling down the barranco del Arroyo de Alhori in Jerez of the Marquis (Granada).
- 16 April. Mountaineer dies Biscayan, buried by an avalanche, when he was climbing near Torre Santa de Enol (Asturias). He suffered a drop of between 150 and 300 meters.
- May 16. A climber, native of Barakaldo (Vizcaya), dies near Torre Santa de Enol, in the Picos of Europe (Asturias), having been buried by an avalanche of snow.
- 19 May. Two British climbers killed in the Pyrenees after falling from a snowfield located near the Pico de Frondiellas , in the municipality of Sallent de Gallego (Huesca).

    Apparently, at a time when the pro Global Warning Lobby has increased it television advertising, skiing in Scotland is set to continue into the summer and in the Sierra Nevada mountains of Southern Spain, not only is skiing set to continue but a climber was killed when he fell into a crevasse in the second week of June…
