Mountaineers rescued after falling on Tajos de la Virgen ridge

Two mountaineers from Alicante area had to be rescued from the Tajos de la Virgen ridge in the Sierra Nevada last weekend after falling. Both were injured and unable to move. The Guardia Civil rescue services, helped by staff from Cetursa, the ski lift operators, evacuated the injured to hospital in Granada.

In other incidents, a climber had to be rescued from Las Cascadas above Huétor Santillan after falling from a dislodged stone. In the gorge of Los Cahorros, a teenager got stuck in rocks and had to be evacuated.

Also, a snowboarder, got lost in the barranco de San Juan after the ski centre shut. He was eventually found through the flash of his camera going off.
