Spaghetti Western Film Locations near Tabernas
“Walking in the footsteps of Clint Eastwood”
There is no doubt that the scenery around Tabernas in Almeria is dramatic. We have been running Walking Tours in the Tabernas Desert for many years now and the views never fail to inspire.
Sergio Leone and the Spaghetti Western crews realised this too, and from the 1960’s onwards, the [...]
Foxes still a problem at high mountain camps in the Sierra Nevada
A year ago I wrote an article about fox related incidents involving clients in the Sierra Nevada. The situation has worsened in the past year. They have spread outwards and now occur further afield from the normal Veleta/Mulhacen tourist tracks. Indeed they are getting braver and becoming more and more of a nuisance.
Here is what [...]
Ski Company data shows great ski year for the Sierra Nevada
It has been historic season. The ski company, CETURSA has just released the data for the last winter season 2008/2009
The number of skiing days has been 148 days, with an average of 67 km of downhill runs open. A major upswing after the last two dreadful years, where the snow has been sadly lacking.
The increase [...]
Why walking in the Alpujarras is so varied and interesting
Why you should come here for your walking holiday?
The Alpujarra boast stunning scenery, hot sunny weather and is a wonderful area for walking. During the spring and autumn months the surroundings are particularly beautiful; in spring the land is carpeted with a vast array of wild flowers and blossom adorns the fruit trees which are [...]

A new company has been started in the Alpujarras running Birdwatching Tours. Birdwatch Alpujarras is run by experienced enthusiasts Ian Williams and Steve Edmonds. They are based in their home town of Lanjaron, ideally located for day tours to either the coastal wetlands, moorlands or high mountain environments.
The Alpujarras offer some of Spain’s most spectacular [...]
Europa Point – the most southerly rock climbing in Europe
This video was sent in to us from Chris Durante of the Gibraltar Climbing Association. It shows him climbing on “Simon’s Stack”, Europa Point (the most southern route in europe).
As Chris says, “This route is awsome, where else can you be climbing a free standing piece of rock from which you can see two seas, [...]

The accident happened around 14:15pm in the vicinity of the Hortichuela farmhouse. The man apparently slipped and [...]
Last chance for piste skiing this coming week
The Sierra Nevada ski area is open until 17th May. This means that we have just 1 weeks chance to use the lift systems before season closure. There is still plenty of good skiing available. The day pass is only 20 euros and there is hardly anybody around!
At those prices the lift systems are still [...]
New motorway section near Almunecar opens end May
A new 9 kilometres of the A-7 motorway will be opened at the end of May, between La Herradura and Taramay, near Almu±ecar. This is good news, as it will alleviate the busy stretch of road and holdups around Almu±ecar.
This has always been a difficult stretch to complete with the terrain and a bad accident [...]
