Mulhacen north faceWarning: It is difficult to access by car from the Hoya del Portillo, better up to the Poqueira hut via the Acequia route or the Poqueira gorge from Cebadilla.

Access: Approach to the foot of the face via the col de Ciervo is on excellent snow.

General Condition: Hard snow or ice crust that holds well and you can move forward easily. Most of the Central Couloir can be done without using the rope, but if used then there is rock sidewall protection available (better than the ice). The exit is without any problems.

Warning: In the middle of the couloir, there is a short brownish coloured ice bulge that complicates the climb and means avoiding tactics on quite exposed terrain for 3 short pitches before a return can be made to the main line.

Descent: via the west flank. Good condition until later in the day when you could be waist deep!
