Two portugese skiers have been badly injured skiing off piste in the Sierra Nevada. They lost control in an area west of the radio telescope and hit rocks situated in the valley of the Rio Dilar.

They were in a group of 5 skiers who ignored warning signs and entered the restricted off piste areas. They had no protective helmets.

One of the injured suffered leg (femur) injuries, the other injuries to the head and back. They were transferred by helicopter to hospital in Granada, after the alarm was raised by staff of the “La Laguna” chairlift station.
