The Alhori and Pico de Jerez in fine weatherThe Mountain Rescue Service of the Guardia Civil (Servicio de Rescate e Intervenci³n en Monta±a) yesterday rescued a mountaineer that had suffered an accident at 2385m on the slopes of the Pico de Jerez.

The rescue services were called out at 18:30 yesterday. The mountaineer, who had crampons and ice axe, suffered a broken fibula and a sprain. The accident ocurred at a point on the side of the Pico de Jerez known as the Mirador de Alhori.

A helicopter could not be used to evacuate the injured man due to the high winds so he was stretchered out to the Refugio Postero Alto. From here he was transferred by car to hospital in Guadix.
