Sierra Nevada Bad Weather Alerts for beginning of February
AEMET has issued weather warnings for Sunday 1st and Monday 2nd February. For the 1st they are suggesting a 12 hour accumulated rainfall of 80mm (25mm in 1 hour!). With average freezing levels of between 1500m and 2000m we can expect much snowfall and high avalanche risk up high.

Reforestation of Sierra Nevada with 100,000 trees affected by the fire above Lanjaron in 2005
Part of the area affected by the fire in 2005 which destroyed 3425 hectares of Nature and National Parks of Sierra Nevada will be reforested by planting 100,000 trees above Lanjar³n, under an agreement signed today by the Board and Water Font Vella and Lanjar³n.

New measuring station calculates the water stored in Sierra Nevada snows
A new measuring station has been installed at 2820 metres above sea level high above the Trevelez valley. The Parque National de Sierra Nevada will, for the first time, have scientific data on the water reserves stored in the annual snowfalls.

The snow causes road problems in Granada area
