There is some quite good bouldering very close to town and only 5 mins walk from the Castle. The area is used by a few local climbers but is relatively unknown considering it is so near the town.
Access
By pass the town by taking the right turn towards Orgiva at the 1st roundabout in Lanjaron (described as a “roundabout” but basically a “free for all”!). The entrance to the castle area is at the bottom of the hill about 400m from the roundabout. Turn right and follow the track to the main castle car park.
On entering the car park you will see a dirt track on the right. Follow this dropping at first then contouring on a faint track crossing a few streams. The bouldering in on the right hand side up the slope.
The Bouldering
All sorts of options, some a bit tricky to access because of the vegetation. Known boulder problems have been marked in blue numbering at the bottom of the rock. There are many lines not so marked.
There is some shelter from the sun from overhanging trees in some sections.
Good for an hour or two sport at the end of the day!
