I made contact with Centursa S.A yesterday asking for details of the lift opening in July and August. They normally open the Gondola (Al Andalus) and the Veleta chairlift, that gives walkers access to the cooler temperatures at 2900m.
Centura informed me that this year they would not be opening the skifts as in previous years. This means another 400m ascent minimum for anybody wanting to access the high mountains. Best start point (highest) is at the Hoya de la Mora above the ski centre, at a height of 2500m.
