Was up Mulhacen yesterday. As the photo below, taken from Mulhacen S summit, shows, there is not much left now, but the high track between Mulhacen and Veleta is still affected by snow in 2 areas:
(a) below the Collado de Cariguela
(b) below Cerro de los Machos
If passing early morning then crampons WILL be necessary in some places. Later in the morning they will be passable with care without crampons.
The northen side still has large snow fields down to 2800m again icy requiring crampons in the early morning.
