Bad news for local businesses in the Sierra Nevada!
Low cost airline Ryanair has been accused of holding Granada to ransom after it was revealed the company is asking for more money to continue flying into the city.
Currently, the Ryanair website is not offering flights to either Stanstead or East Midlands from Granada after October 25. The service to Liverpool is unaffected.
A Ryanair spokesman admitted it was grounding flights this winter but refused to confirm whether Granada would be affected by these cancellations.

Have you any news on this flight situation? It seems like Ryanair is still offering Stansted and East Midlands flights for summer 2009. Do you think that this will change? I have lots of family & friends flying out for our wedding in August and will suggest that they all fly into Malaga if there is the chance of the Ryanair routes into Granada being cancelled.
Many thanks!
Hi Alice. No more news as yet. My own belief is that if they are keeping them open for the winter, then there should be more passengers/income for the summer months.
It would be a disaster for Granada airport if Ryanair pulled out, and I would like to think that the Granada Government would do everything in its power to stop that happening.
Ryanair are a law unto themselves however so we shall have to see!
