Cerro de Caballo Ski Touring
Report on today’s trip. Parked at Fuente Fria, a 45 minute drive on dirt tracks above the town of Niguelas at the foot of the Sierra Nevada. Short 30 min walk to the snow. Snow hard and icy at 11am made going up fast and easy. Near the summit at 1pm the snow started to deteriorate rapidly. A quick 25 minute descent found us back at the car. Great skiing but a bit slushy near the bottom. The face is west facing and straight forward. a perfect ski tour for those new to the sport.
