With the recent high temps on the south side of the Sierra Nevada the snow level is 2800m or higher. On the northern slopes the snow is above 2600 and much more extensive. There is a breakable crust of perhaps 1.5 to 3 inches. Some slab forming. Freezing at night so mountaineering potential is good from the north. Ski touring very poor except near the ski centre.
